Why these tools work differently

Most free file converters work by uploading your file to a server, processing it there and sending the result back. That means your documents and photographs sit on somebody else’s computer, however briefly, and you have to take their word for what happens next.

Every tool here runs inside your browser instead. Opening a file hands it to the page, not to a network — the conversion is done by JavaScript and WebAssembly on your own device, and the result appears without a byte of it being transmitted. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s network panel and watch while you convert something.

The practical upside is that it is fast, works offline once the page has loaded, and has no file-size caps or daily limits to enforce. The trade-off is that the work uses your device’s memory, so a very large batch is better split into smaller groups.
